Common Laptop Screen Problems
If your laptop shows any of these issues, a screen replacement may be required.
Cracked or shattered screen
Visible cracks or impact damage can spread over time. Even if the laptop still works, the display becomes unreliable and harder to use.
Flickering or glitching display
Lines, flashing, or distorted visuals often point to panel failure. In many cases, replacing the screen restores normal performance.
Black screen but laptop is on
If you hear sounds or see lights but no image, the screen may have failed. External display testing helps confirm this quickly.
Backlight failure
Shine a torch on your laptop screen. If you still see the manufacturer logo or anything on the screen at all, the backlight has failed.
Why Choose Fix My Laptop for Screen Repairs

Unlike many repair shops, we do most of the laptop screen repairs in our Clayfield workshop with the parts we already stock.

Accurate Screen Fault Diagnosis
We confirm the issue before recommending any laptop screen repair.

Not every display issue means you need a full screen replacement. We always test your laptop using external monitors and internal checks first. This allows us to rule out GPU faults, LVDS/eDP cable damage, or motherboard display-out problems. Once confirmed, we explain the hardware fault clearly and provide a direct repair quote so you only pay for what is actually needed.
If you are in a rush and cannot wait for the screen repair, we can even copy your most important files so you don’t miss crucial work or school assignments.
Touch Screen Repair
These repairs take longer and cost more…
If you have a laptop with a touchscreen (commonly called a 2-in-1), replacing a broken screen can get really expensive. These laptops are typically heavier, have worse battery life, and are much more difficult to repair. A touch screen consists of a sturdy frame, the LCD/OLED panel itself, a digitiser, and protective glass, which are all bonded together and very difficult to separate.
The Short-Term Fix: If only the glass or digitiser broke, it’s sometimes possible to disable the touch capability in the OS or BIOS. You will still have cracks, which may eventually damage the underlying display panel, but the laptop will be usable in the short term.
The Proper Fix: A complete repair requires replacing the entire display assembly, which is usually at least double the cost of a traditional laptop screen replacement. There screens are unique to each model and need to be ordered, so the repair will take from several days to weeks.
