I found this course last week and completed it yesterday. Now it’s your turn! As someone who has been in the industry for over 15 years, I still found it useful and engaging. Even if you aren’t “good with computers”, they explain the threats and actions you can take, and you don’t need to be a cybersecurity expert to understand it.
The course is designed for people who work at a small business, but individuals can also take it. I tested it with a personal email address and put “none” as the business website and it works fine. I’m already familiar with the concepts presented, so it took me less than an hour to explore every module and quiz. You may want to Google the terms and ideas, so give yourself extra time. The good news is you can stop and restart at any point.
This course has four short self-paced modules to gain your certificate. You will be introduced to simple, effective techniques and skills for:
- spotting common tricks and scams
- promoting cyber safety in your team
- preventing digital break-ins
- protecting and preserving your business and customer information/data
Cyber threats, such as digital attacks and scams, are inevitable. It is only a question of when they will happen, not if. You may be thinking “I’m just a small fish, why would anybody care about my data…” but that’s a wrong assumption. Big companies have more resources to deal with the threats, and cybercriminals know it’s much easier to hack people who don’t think they’d be a target.
The good news, it doesn’t take much to protect yourself against 99% of the cyber-attacks. Contrary to popular belief, most hackers aren’t wearing hoodies trying to reverse-engineer your computer vulnerabilities. The majority of the attacks exploit the weakest chain in the link – people! We allow it to happen due to ignorance, not paying attention, trusting too much, or just being lazy and ignoring the warning signs.
So, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Take the training course and you’ll be prepared to deal with all but the most sophisticated cyber-attacks. Here is the link to sign up – Simplified Cyber Security for Australian Small Business (cyberwardens.com.au)
